An IR sensor is positioned to detect each passing blade, allowing the Arduino to calculate RPM; a significant drop or spike in this value triggers a fault alert on the LCD. To monitor thermal stress, an LM35 analog sensor converts ambient heat within the turbine housing into a voltage signal, which the Arduino interprets to identify potential friction-related overheating. Mechanical instability is captured by a piezoelectric sensor, which generates small electrical pulses during vibration. Since these pulses are often too weak for the Arduino to read accurately, an Op-Amp circuit (configured as a non-inverting amplifier) boosts the signal to a detectable level. The Arduino continuously compares these three sensor inputs against pre-defined safety thresholds. If any sensor detects an anomaly—such as excessive heat, high vibration, or an RPM failure—the system immediately updates the 16×2 LCD with the specific error message and activates a 5-second buzzer alarm. This automated response ensures that maintenance teams are alerted to issues before they lead to catastrophic mechanical failure. The integration of these sensors provides a low-cost, effective diagnostic tool for small-scale wind energy systems.
