Abstarct – Abstarct – This project addresses the critical challenge of maintaining urban power infrastructure where traditional overhead lines are replaced by underground cables for safety and aesthetic reasons. While underground cables are less prone to environmental damage, identifying the precise location of a fault remains a significant hurdle, often requiring extensive excavation. This system utilizes an Arduino-based architecture to automate the fault-detection process, leveraging the relationship between resistance and cable length. By applying a constant voltage and measuring the resulting voltage drop across a resistor network, the system can pinpoint the distance of the fault from the base station. The integration of an LCD for local monitoring, a buzzer for immediate alerts, and an HC-05 Bluetooth module for wireless notification ensures that maintenance teams are alerted instantly. Additionally, the inclusion of a solid-state relay using a Triac allows for automated load control, protecting the rest of the grid from potential surges. Ultimately, this technology reduces downtime, minimizes labor costs, and improves the reliability of urban power distribution.
