Abstarct -This innovative rainwater absorption and irrigation project utilizes a plastic tray as a compact underground storage tank. Rainwater is collected and channeled into the buried tray, acting as a small-scale cistern for water conservation. A soil moisture sensor is strategically placed in the garden or planting area to continuously monitor the soil’s water content. When the soil moisture drops below a predefined threshold, the sensor triggers an automated response. This signal activates a small, low-power pump connected to the stored rainwater. The entire system is powered by a small solar panel and battery setup, ensuring sustainable and off-grid operation. The solar energy charges the battery, which powers both the sensor and the pump. The pump draws water from the underground plastic tray tank and delivers it through a simple drip or micro-irrigation system directly to the plant roots. This automatic irrigation process continues until the soil moisture sensor detects that the required moisture level has been restored, at which point the pump shuts off. This design ensures efficient water use, preventing overwatering and minimizing manual labor while using readily available materials and renewable energy. The plastic tray is a cheap, accessible, and easy-to-install solution for small-scale urban gardening or remote applications.
