Abstarct – This project is an interactive, illuminated circular food chain display designed to show the flow of energy through an ecosystem. At the center of the base, use an LED to represent the Sun, the primary energy source that powers the entire system. Arrange the primary elements—Grass (Producers), Grasshopper (Primary Consumer), Snake (Secondary Consumer), and Hawk (Tertiary Consumer)—along the outer edge of a rotating circular platform. As the user rotates the base by hand, each stage of the chain aligns with the sunlight, symbolizing the transfer of energy. Include Mushrooms (Decomposers) at the end of the sequence to show how nutrients are returned to the soil to help the grass grow again. To make it more detailed, you can add small figures of other animals like frogs or mice to create a more complex food web. Use color-coded arrows between the figures to indicate the direction of energy flow from one organism to another. The LED can be wired to a simple battery pack hidden beneath the rotating base for a clean, professional look. This tactile, moving model effectively demonstrates the cyclical nature of life and the importance of each link in the biological chain. Finally, label each section clearly so viewers can identify the roles of producers, consumers, and decomposers.
