Abstract – The Smart Street Light System is an energy-saving project designed to reduce electricity consumption on roads and streets. It uses an LDR (Light Dependent Resistor) to detect the surrounding light intensity and an IR sensor to detect passing vehicles. During the daytime, the street lights remain OFF because sufficient natural light is available. At night, the system becomes active and waits for a vehicle to cross the IR sensor. When a vehicle is detected, the street light automatically glows. The circuit uses diode-based AND gate logic to ensure that the light glows only when the required conditions are satisfied. A 9V battery supplies power to the electronic circuit. This project demonstrates how automation can improve road safety while saving electrical energy.
