Abstarct – The Smart Dustbin features a durable sunboard enclosure on a sturdy plywood base. An IR sensor at the upper entry point creates an active detection zone; when falling waste interrupts the infrared beam, it triggers an Arduino microcontroller. The item lands on a pivotable platform equipped with a water level sensor acting as a moisture probe. If moisture is detected, the sensor bridges an electrical path, raising the analog voltage so the Arduino classifies it as wet waste; otherwise, it is flagged as dry. The Arduino then sends a PWM signal to a servo motor, tilting the platform left or right to drop the waste into its designated internal compartment before resetting to the center.
